This is a photograph I took during my first trip to Milan in June 2011.
I fell in love with Italy because of the culture. I love how Italians live their day to day lives. I loved the grace of a woman on a Vespa who was able to multitask and still look flawless. I loved how a waiter at a restaurant thought he could teach me Italian over one meal. I loved the gelato so much I ate it for breakfast. I loved the language; whether it was in passing, directed at me, or it was music being played by an older gentlemen on park bench. And most importantly, the reason I am headed back to Italy, the fashion. The fashion industry in Milan is like no other fashion capital. I could not be more excited for the site visits, the museums, the fashion shows, and so much more.
Here is another photograph I took of Milan in June 2011.
This is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is a shopping
mall in Milan with an arching glass roof.
Along the way, I will be posting photos, stories, and new experiences I gain from this study abroad. I hope you will follow my journey through Milan. This trip is a one in a lifetime opportunity and I could not be more excited to share it with 19 other students and 2 professors. You should expect to see a new blog post from me every Friday in June.
That's all for now! I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes about travel - "Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer."
Arrivederci!
